Strategy Generator

The generator can be used to create new strategies or to improve the already existing ones.

The major evaluation criterion is achieving the optimal balance of the strategy.

The generator also adheres to the included restrictions:

• Maximum number of ambiguous bars;
• Maximum equity drawdown.

Perform initial optimization is a default option. It makes the generator try to improve the strategy. This can be done in two ways:

1. by removing the indicator slots which have no significance for the strategy; and
2. by changing the digital parameters of the indicators, bringing them closer to their default values.

The initial optimization aims at making the strategy more orderly without trying to achieve a higher profit. To achieve optimal optimization, use the following instrument: Strategy Optimizer.

In order to generate a complete strategy, there have to be no “locked” indicator slots. When you press the Generate button, the generating of your strategy starts all over again. This means that the strategy you have been creating so far will be deleted.

The Strategy Generator works out combinations of indicators, changes their logic and parameters. It also changes the behaviour of the additional entry signals. If the Preserve the Permanent S/L option is deactivated and the Strategy properties slot is not “locked”, the generator will change the Permanent S/L option in order to achieve a higher profit.

The Strategy Generator does not change the number of traded lots.

The Forex Strategy Generator can be used to improve an already created strategy. This can be done when you have already built a strategy but feel that adding an additional filter to it can make it work better. To do that, input your strategy into Forex Strategy Builder, open the generator and click on the indicator slot. The icon of a padlock will appear in the top left-hand corner of the slot on which you have clicked. This means that the slot is “locked”. The “locked” slots cannot be changed by the generator.

You can use the forex strategy generator in order to find out how a given indicator or a group of indicators can be implemented in practice. You can do this by adjusting the parameters of the chosen indicator on the main screen of the program. Having done this, open the generator window and “lock” the thus adjusted indicator slot. When you start the generator, it will try to find a profitable combination of indicators without changing the “locked” indicator.
